Name Description
Keighley Furniture Project (Springfield Project)

Keighley Furniture Project was established as a charity in 1979. It was set up to help people who are on low incomes and are needing household items. We have been collecting donations of furniture and household items (everything from lamps to fridges!)

We are able to help people from all kinds of walks of life and understand that people’s situations differ. It’s great that in our community people are housed, but, we take it one step further and give people the opportunity to turn their house into a home.

We recycle, up-cycle and re-use to aid our environment and produce a solution that benefits all.

We collect donated household items in Keighley /Skipton and surrounding areas to pass on to people who are low incomes. We are particularly interested in cookers, washing machines and fridges as we’ve been granted funding to start a white goods re-use workshop.

We ask that furniture is in a good condition and has the relevant fire labels attached.

Warehouse open for public to come along and choose their own items and a monetary donation is asked for. People must be in receipt of benefit, disability or pension and proof is requested at the time of wanting to purchase items. https://keighleyfurnitureproject.co.uk/eligibility/

Room hire: We have rooms to rent for longer term organisation tenants.

Storage Bays are available for voluntary organisations and private individuals in receipt of benefit. Private individuals must provide a guarantor who is not family or friends.

Keighley U3A

The whole concept of U.3.A. is that members with life skills pass on their knowledge and engage the interest of others in continuing to learn and expand their horizons and this was too good to keep to just a few enthusiasts, and so posters went up in libraries, advertisements appeared in local papers and friends were enlisted. As a result our Start-Up Meeting attracted quite a few Members. The Keighley Third Age Group has grown from strength to strength and now has approx. 120 Members

Members get together monthly, usually with a speaker, and socialises. Guests are also welcome at the monthly meetings to meet members and find out what we are about. We have a Facebook page which gives details of current events - Keighley U3A - feel free to join.

KVU Singers

We are an inclusive choir and are always happy to welcome new members. Prospective members are invited to come along to any of our rehearsals to try us out. If, after you have sung with us a few weeks, you decide you would like to join the choir you will have a short 'voice check' with our musical director. This is to check your assessment of your voice is correct and will confirm in which section your voice is best suited.

As a choir member you can expect to participate in about six concerts a year, and maybe a tour in the UK or Europe. Dates of concerts and tours are announced well in advance, so that you can pop them in your diary and spread the word to family and friends.

Regular attendance at rehearsals is the key to getting the most out of singing with the choir and learning the repertoire. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings 7.30pm to 9.30pm at St. Stephen's Church Hall, St. Stephen's Road, Steeton, BD20 6SB. We meet most weeks of the year, with short breaks at Christmas and Easter and a longer break in the summer.

There are usually some fundraising events during the year, such as a drinks and snacks day in Skipton Town Hall and an open house event. Money raised from these activities helps to keep the choir afloat and your help in the form of items, time or publicity will be greatly appreciated.
