Description:

The whole concept of U.3.A. is that members with life skills pass on their knowledge and engage the interest of others in continuing to learn and expand their horizons and this was too good to keep to just a few enthusiasts, and so posters went up in libraries, advertisements appeared in local papers and friends were enlisted. As a result our Start-Up Meeting attracted quite a few Members. The Keighley Third Age Group has grown from strength to strength and now has approx. 120 Members

Members get together monthly, usually with a speaker, and socialises. Guests are also welcome at the monthly meetings to meet members and find out what we are about. KEIGHLEY has a summer break in July and August when there are no meetings. There are occasional visits to places of interest, often subsidised for U3A members. We have a Facebook page which gives details of current events - Keighley U3A - feel free to join.

Subscriptions
The Annual Membership Subscriptions has always been modest , members having determined that no one would be precluded by reason of finance from attending, and for 2020 will be £7 for a single Member and from which a Capitation Fee, currently £3.50 per member is paid to the Third Age Trust in return for their support and assistance whenever needed.

Publications
We can choose receive a magazine 5 Times Per Annum, The Third Age Matters, from our Head Office.

Eligibility.
Retired and semi retired people are all eligible to join the group. A visit to our monthly social gathering is a good way to meet other members and see what we are about.

Members come from all walks of life and require no prior qualifications, except a desire to go on learning and acquiring new skills, and a willingness to share interests.

Most months we have a speaker and this is held on the first Wednesday in the month. It is usual to come for tea or coffee for 10am. The actual meeting starts at 10.30am There is an entrance fee of £1.50 to cover room hire and refreshments. The venue for this meeting is at Action Point, off Russell St, Keighley. Guests are most welcome to come along, free of charge, to meet members and see what we are about.
