As a current Touchstone mental health nurse working in the service testifies “I have had more job satisfaction in the last 12 months working in this interesting Liaison and Diversion service than in the previous 4 years”. Funded by NHS England, we have three Liaison and Diversion (L&D) Teams based in police stations in Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield.

The service is highly regarded by partner organisations and received national recognition through a recent Howard League award. The role of Mental Health Nurse is integral to the team and involves identifying vulnerable adults and young people in contact with the criminal justice system, providing comprehensive assessments, preparing and presenting reports for Courts, linking with mental health treatment providers to establish referral and care pathways and directly supporting individuals to access and engage in a wide range of support and treatment services.
As a Mental Health Nurse you will have the opportunity to develop your clinical practice in a variety of settings including police station, court and community. You will work with people of all ages with a range of mental health, learning disabilities, substance misuse and social vulnerabilities. We will ensure you are supported in role and to progress with a programme of high quality clinical supervision, training and professional development.
We offer a pension. A flexible approach to working is required as the service operates over 7 days including evenings and weekends; you will know your working pattern in advance. The successful candidates will be subject to the police vetting procedure prior to commencement in role.
