Treasurer / Trustees

Relate Bradford provides specialist relationship support to individuals, couples, children, young people and families in the Bradford district through counselling, psychosexual therapy, group work and education and training. We deliver a range of services which include Relationship Counselling, Family Counselling, Young Person’s counselling, Psychosexual Therapy, IAPT Couple Therapy For Depression, counselling for carers, groups for women struggling with anger and counselling for those impacted by Prostate Cancer.

We have a small dedicated, professional team of counsellors and staff providing services throughout the Bradford area.

The organisation is going through a period of change both locally and nationally and we are facing challenges as a result of reduced funding which are typical for the voluntary sector. Our Board are determined to rise to these challenges to ensure that the people of Bradford continue to benefit from our specialist services, as a Trustee your contribution to the organisation growing and thriving would undoubtedly be very rewarding.

We have an annual budget of approximately £350k with most of our income coming from grants and commissioned services as many of our clients are unable to pay the full cost of our services. Alternative funding streams are always being considered and the Board would welcome as much professional input as possible when considering these.

We currently have a small board of active Trustees keen to ensure that our organisation continues to survive and expand our services in the current difficult economic environment. The Board meets every 2 months on a Monday evening at our central Bradford offices. Occasional additional meetings may also be arranged.

We are currently seeking people to join our Trustee Board.

Treasurer

We are urgently seeking someone to join our Board as Treasurer.  Like most voluntary sector organisations, maintaining funding streams is a continuing priority.  In addition to the bi monthly Board meetings there is a Finance sub-committee which meets about 4 times per year. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of accounting/budgeting and maybe as a treasurer/trustee in another organisation or group.

Other Trustees                                                                                                                      We are also looking for additional trustees to augment the current Board. In particular we would like to hear from you if you have a legal background, experience in HR, marketing or experience of working in the voluntary sector. However, anyone interested in our organisation with an understanding/empathy of the complexities and pressures associated with providing therapeutic support to individuals, couples, children, young people and families are welcome to apply.
