Henry Smith Charity re-launches grants programmes 1 November 2017 Henry Smith Charity has announced a new grants strategy. The main grants programme now has two strands; Improving Lives and Strengthening Communities. Other grants including holiday grants for children remain unchanged. Applications can be made at any time. Improving Lives This is the funder's largest grants programme, through which the majority of its funds are distributed. Charities and not-for-profit organisations, including social enterprises can apply if their annual income is £50,000 to £2million. Grants of £20,000 to £60,000 per year over 1 to 3 years are available from the Improving Lives grant programme. Charitable organisations can apply for funding to deliver services directly to beneficiaries under six funding priorities. The funder is looking for services that can demonstrate a track record of success, and evidence the effectiveness of the work. Running costs, salaries and projects can be funded. For more information, please read the full guidance notes for Improving Lives before completing the Improving Lives application form. Strengthening Communities For smaller charities and not-for-profit organisations with an annual income of £20,000 to £500,000, the Strengthening Communities programme also offers grants of £20,000 to £60,000 per year over 1 to 3 years. Only organisations that are working in areas in the lowest 10% on the government Indices of Multiple Deprivation can apply. Running costs, salaries, projects and small capital costs needed to support the work can be funded. "We want to fund work that enables: People from across the community to participate in activities which improve connectedness, opportunities and wellbeing People who are excluded, vulnerable or facing other forms of hardship to have access to community-based services that support positive lasting change A stronger, active, more engaged community." For more information, please read the full guidance notes for Strengthening Communities before completing the Strengthening Communities application form. Questions?
