Your Back Yard CIC |
We help communities to create places to be proud of. This might be by improving a local park or play area, taking over the running of a community centre to meet the community’s needs, or coming up with new projects to give young people something to do. Most of our work is with communities in the more deprived parts of the North of England. Our work generally falls into one of the following areas: We work with communities to identify what their priorities are, develop plans and put them into practice. Improving Parks and Play Areas We work with local people to tackle the poor state of many parks and play areas in many of our communities. As one local resident of a large housing estate put it, “18,000 people and nowhere to play”. Support for Community Buildings Every community needs good places where people can get together to enjoy themselves, where clubs and classes can run, where young people can meet safely and where the community can meet together. Help for Sports Clubs At Your Back Yard we have extensive experience of helping community groups, sports clubs and other third sector organisations raise the funding to get their projects off the ground. Support for Neighbourhood Planning Neighbourhood Development Plans (NDPs) give you the chance to shape what kind of development happens in your area. NDPs can be lead by two types of body – town and parish councils or ‘neighbourhood forums’. |
