Great Horton Theatre Company

With over 100 years of history, we are one of the oldest amateur theatre companies in Bradford. We attract people of all ages, young and old. We are always looking for new members.

Our current main focus is our community choir, the Great Horton Singers and new members are always welcome. We meet at St Winefride's Church Hall, St Paul's Avenue, Wibsey at 7.30pm every Thursday and perform two concerts a year at that venue. We are a registered charity.

Greengates and Apperley Bridge Community Volunteers

We are a group of volunteers who organise community events in this area such as mass litter picks, supporting the rivers trust clear out river debris, gardening projects, makeover of street media boxes with iconic local images and community messages plus other community events at the local church hall/community hub our aims are:
1 to integrate into our community the new residents who occupy the almost 500 new homes built in this area within the last 5 years
2 to promote health and well being, reduce isolation amongst elderly and vulnerable
3 promote community cohesiveness and civic pride in both our city and local area in Bradford East

Groundwork

We provide training and create jobs, reduce energy use and waste, re-connect people with nature and transform whole neighbourhoods. Step by step we’ll go on changing places and changing lives until everywhere is vibrant and green, every community is strong enough to shape its own destiny and everyone can reach their potential.

Growing Old Gracefully

Growing Old Grace-fully works across the Roman Catholic Diocese of Leeds to improve the well-being of older people.
We are working to raise awareness, inspire, encourage and support activities that address the spiritual and practical needs of older people in our parishes by:
Sharing best practice
Helping support local solutions to local needs
Offering information, support and advice
Encouraging dementia-friendly parishes

Hainworth Wood Community Centre

We are a local Community Centre run by volunteers for the residents of Keighley East, Hainworth Wood, Spring Bank and surrounding areas. We bring the local community together to have fun, to learn and to connect.
Activities and sessions throughout the week for people of all ages including after school club, Parent and Toddler group, and Conversation Cafe for older people. We host community activities run by other organisations for example job and housing advice at the Support Club run in partnership with InCommunities.

HALE Project (Health Action Local Engagement)

HALE (Health Action Local Engagement) is an established healthy living charity based in Bradford since 2003. We work with people of all ages; providing a wide range of innovative services to directly tackle the causes of health issues experienced by the local community. HALE’s focus is on the most vulnerable members of society that feel isolated and lonely; those that struggle with mental health or self confidence issues or are exposed to dangerous or exploitative situations.

Hall Cliffe Community Garden

​​Hall Cliffe Community Garden is located in half an acre of public open space in Hall Cliffe, Baildon, West Yorkshire.

It was created in 2004/2005 by local volunteers who formed a registered charity for this purpose.

The garden is open daily from dawn until dusk. Entry is free and most areas are suitable for wheelchair access. Pay and Display parking is available within 150 metres.

There is always a good range of plants available for sale at reasonable prices.

Hall Royd Band

We are a friendly brass band based in the Shipley area. New members, both learners and experienced players are always welcome.

If you are interested in joining as a player, whether as an accomplished musician in the main band 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Fridays, or as a learner joining the Monday group 7pm to 8pm, we would be delighted to hear from you, or feel free to simply turn up at Northcliffe Church, Shipley on one of these rehearsal nights.

Please email us first to make sure we haven't got an engagement that night. We endeavour to supply a band instrument and free tuition if requested - so you’ve got nothing to lose by giving us a try!!!

Haworth and Worth Valley Rotary Club

Rotary is an organisation of business and professional persons committed to service through each Rotarian's occupation, fellowship, service, high ethical standards and international understanding, good will and world fellowship united in the ideal of service.
We meet on Tuesdays at 7pm for 7.30pm. Check the meeting programme on our website https://wp.haworthrotary.co.uk/club-event/ or with the Secretary especially for venues in August and after Bank Holidays.

Haworth Machu Picchu Twinning Group

To exchange ideas and experiences, to encourage fair trade and tourism. Increase awareness of both Haworth and Machu Picchu (Peru) aim to learn each other's language and culture, improve education for children. We meet at various locations in Haworth and have recruited new members (2019) which has revived the group along with support from John Grogan MP. Communication is the short term aim eventually leading to a possible teacher exchange visit.

Haworth Riding for the Disabled Group

Provides disabled people with horse riding sessions for therapy, recreation, educational development and competitive sport.

Haworth Village Hall

Providing an affordable and sustainable meeting space for the communities of Haworth and the surrounding area, staffed by volunteers.

Charity is linked to Haworth Village Hall (Trading) Ltd is a company limited by guarantee and registered in England as 11597676. The company deals with commercial operations that fall outside our charitable aims and donates all profits to Haworth Village Hall charity.

Rooms at the Village Hall that are available for hire include:

Main Hall: The largest community hall in the area outside of Keighley, the main hall boasts a badminton court, stage and a capacity of between 50 to 250 people depending on layout. It is home to Magic Garden Play Cafe, Haworth Steampunk Weekend, Haworth Ladies Badminton Group and variety of music events throughout the year.

Kitchen: The kitchen is a small kitchen with facilities to make tea and coffee and warm food. Attached is a dining area with tables to sit 25 to 50 people.

Bar Area: The bar serves real-ale and traditional lagers alongside a selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks to a capacity of around 25 seats. Please note that alcohol drinks can only be purchased from the bar and, if the bar is open, soft drinks other than squash will need to be purchased too.

Headway Bradford

Headway Bradford is a local branch of the national charity 'Headway UK - the brain injury association'. We offer support to people in the Bradford District and surrounding areas whose lives have been affected by brain injury either because they have sustained a brain injury or are a family member, partner or carer of someone who has. We aim to help relieve the social isolation felt by brain injury survivors and those close to them.
We hold monthly social meetings in Shipley and monthly drop in coffee mornings in Bradford

Healthwatch Bradford and District

We are the independent champion for people who use health and social care services. Our sole purpose is to understand the experiences and needs of people who use health and social care services and to speak out on their behalf. We work to get services right for the future.

We listen to people's experiences of health and social care services, and direct people to services. We make sure that all feedback we collect, positive and negative, goes up to the people running health and social care services.

So that you can stay well and avoid using health and social care services, we promote how you can stay happy, healthy and at home.

Healthwatch operates at a national level through Healthwatch England and through a network of local organisations like Healthwatch Bradford and District. Healthwatch was set up in April 2013 as part of the government's reforms of health and social care.

HENRY

HENRY’s family programmes are for parents or carers of children aged 0 to 5 years old interested in finding out more about healthy lifestyles for the whole family.

HENRY programmes and workshops are running either online or in local venues in Bradford.

Everyone wants the best for their children, but it can be hard to know what to do as a parent in the early years. The Healthy Families group programme provides everything you need to help get your little one off to a great start and covers: parenting confidence, physical activity, what children and families eat, family lifestyle habits and enjoying life as a family. As well as receiving a free HENRY toolkit, including children's books, a ball and a range of helpful resources, we can also offer FREE creche spaces for your little ones. Cooking for a Better Start is free for all parents and carers with children under 4 in the Better Start Bradford area (Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor and Little Horton) who want to learn how to cook low-cost, healthy meals for their family. "Starting Solids" workshops are available for families with babies 0-8 months across the Bradford district.

HENRY also offers free training for professionals working with families of children under five across Bradford District.

Hey Mama

Hey Mama is an online community run by a Mama for all those experiencing emotional difficulties and mental health issues during pregnancy and after birth. It is a space for Mamas to support one another in a non judgemental and supportive space.

Highfield Community Association, Keighley

Highfield Community Association aims to provide a variety of services and activities for local people of all ages, with a particular interest in providing activities and opportunities for children and young people.

Opening Hours: Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm (we are currently closed on a Friday). Weekends by appointment only. Our current facilities consist of a large hall, kitchen, meeting room, Board room, informal meeting room and training room, we also have an outside Multi Use Games Area.

Highfield Community Pre-School

We provide sessional early education and care to pre-school children aged 2 up to 5 during school term time. We employ 9 full-time members of staff with varying degrees of sector appropriate qualifications and have the sole use of a play room, small office and outdoor space and children's toilets. Sessions are planned to meet the individual learning needs of the children.

Himmat

Himmat works across West Yorkshire with children, young people and families experiencing poverty and disadvantage. Our primary focus is Bradford and Halifax and we deliver Alternative Education; Study Support, our Triple R citizenship programme and youth work.

In Bradford East we also run an over 50s group. We have distributed food deliveries, hosted days out and activities including bingo and quizzes.

Hindu Cultural Society of Bradford

The Braford Mandir is a Hindu Temple on Leeds Road in Bradford. It is the oldest place of Hindu worship in West Yorkshire. The temple, which started out with just a handful of families, now attracts some 2000-3000 worshippers. The temple is attached to a community centre which provides hot lunches for elderly people, religious education classes, cultural activities and mother tongue classes.

The purpose of this web site to provide information of the religious services, educational classes, events and festival celebrations that are held at Bradford Mandir along with a description of the various features of the mandir. We’ve also included a brief introduction to Hinduism.
When coming to the mandir everyone is required to take off their shoes before entering. Everyone is expected to be sitting down together on the carpeted floor in the prayer hall. The mandir provides the environment for people to meditate and reach out to God. During service the mandir encourages the devotees to participate by singing bhajans.

Hirst Wood Regeneration Group

A voluntary organisation at Hirst Wood Shipley. We work to make our community spaces safe, clean and user friendly
by involving community volunteers in various projects i.e. we have created a nature area/ an orchard / children's play areas / a little free library / planted trees and bulbs / keep the various woodlands and streets clean of litter / put benches on the canal towpath and repaired safety rails and stiles
We also work with our partners Saltaire Primary School & the Canal & River Trust

Hive - Connecting Creativity

We are a community arts organisation with a 30-year track record of delivering arts and crafts activities. We firmly believe that creativity can contribute to health and well-being and community regeneration.
In our unique non-traditional learning environment, with access to all areas of visual arts and crafts, we provide opportunities for personal development through courses and a creative space. These projects can help to increase life, social and communication skills, mental or physical wellbeing. They also decrease isolation and engage communities.

Hollings Youth Association

The youth organisation is to help and educate young people in Manningham and surrounding areas so as to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities, that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.

Home-Start Bradford District

Home-Start Bradford District recruits and trains volunteers to support families in need of emotional and/or practical support.

The families we support have at least one child under the age of 5.
We invite potential volunteers who are parents or have parenting or childcare experience and are aged over 18 and non-judgemental. Volunteers will visit the families for one to two hours on a weekly basis.
Full training is provided and all volunteers receive a free DBS check.
