Jah Light Community Project is a community organisation established to provide affordable and accessible fitness and nutrition advice, support and training to marginalised communities. The organisation is a Company Limited by Guarantee, with a Management Committee that includes members from different social and cultural backgrounds. The Management Committee meets once a month to discuss the development and progress of the organisation, and is itself managed by a sub-committee of a Chair Person, Treasurer and Secretary.
The aims of the organisation are:
i. To assist in the consultation, planning and delivery of accessible, affordable health services and provisions.
ii. To improve the standard of living and fitness provision for people in deprived areas.
iii. To empower and build self-esteem and confidence of people by creating opportunities to choose healthier lifestyles.
iv. To increase public awareness of the importance of eating five or more fruit and vegetables per day.
v. To provide communities with specific information on how to include more servings of fruit and vegetables into daily eating patterns.
vi.To take young people off the streets and involve them in activities to improve their lifestyle.
