Yorkshire Geological Society
Description To extend the knowledge of the science of Geology and to promote and record the results of geological research with particular emphasis on the North of England. Founded in 1837. Membership is by Application to the Membership Secretary. Around a dozen meetings held a year, including summer field meetings plus a wide programme of special activities with associated local societies and groups for Yorkshire Geology Month in May/June of each year. Meetings are held across the region served, from Northumberland to Nottinghamshire, including Leeds, Hull, York and Scarborough. We publish both popular field guides and half yearly proceedings. AGM and President's Address is held in December. Approx 600 members.
