Description:

IWA West Riding Branch has seven canal and river navigations across parts of north and west Yorkshire from the Pennines to Goole in the area. Our volunteers represent our local waterways at events and local user groups and we comment on planning permissions that might affect the waterways. The branch runs a series of talks and social meetings which are open to all.

The Branch campaigns for the Aire & Calder Navigation, Calder & Hebble Navigation, Huddersfield Broad Canal, Huddersfield Narrow Canal, Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Rochdale Canal, Selby Canal and the Barnsley, Dearne & Dove restoration. The area is home to Standedge Tunnel, Britain’s longest and deepest canal tunnel.

There are lots of ways to get involved with IWA West Riding branch – we’re always looking for volunteers. If you enjoy and love your local waterways then you can help us make a big difference. Everyone is welcome whatever your skills, experience, background or how much time you are able to offer. Whether it’s joining our branch committee or helping on a campaign, please contact us – westriding@waterways.org.uk
