Keighley Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets
Description The aim of the Sea Cadets is to help young people towards responsible adulthood based on the customs of the Royal Navy. Activities and training include sailing, boating (oar or power), marine engineering, communications, teamwork, five a side football, swimming, adventure training, first aid, helping in the community and Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
The unit is run totally by volunteers who work hard to enable our cadets to have the opportunity to go to sea, learn to sail and do adventure training, all on a nautical theme helping them to develop extra skills to give them a head start in life. We also have a Royal Marine Detachment which allows the cadets to partake in field activities and to learn valuable leadership and team building skills.
We offer training and discipline to young people. Our mission is to provide the cadets with life changing and character building experiences which gets them off the streets, off their computer games, away from the television and show them what real life has to offer and gives them a chance to improve their health, lifestyle, attitude and potential in life.
We can offer volunteering opportunities to adults over 18 years old. This is a fantastic way of having free personal development and experience which will enhance any CV. Get in touch if you are interested in joining us we are currently actively seeking new volunteers. Open to girls and boys between the ages of 10 and 18 . Meet at the Training Ship Dolphin, Maritime House, 2 Waddington St., Keighley, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:45pm. AGM May Approx 50 members.
