Bradford Youth Players

Description Bradford Youth PlayersThe Bradford Youth Players have been based at Little Lane Community Hall for over a year! Founded in 1975, BYP is a registered charity which takes the best aspects of a theatre school and an amateur dramatics society and combines them in a youth club setting with a fun, inclusive environment allowing young people to flourish and develop their personal, social and transferable skills alongside their performing arts abilities. After many years based at St. Mary's Church on East Parade, BYP is now settled at Little Lane Community Hall which has excellent theatrical facilities and is home to the three separate clubs which make up the organisation. "BYP welcomes any young person between the ages of 10 and 25 who is interested in the arts, with members given the opportunity to learn and perform. It has been a quiet time for us because of the move but BYP is well and truly back and offering a range of new opportunities!" says Paper Zoo Theatre Company's Jonathan O'Connor who is now Chairman of BYP. 'Just Drama' takes place on Monday evenings at 7:30pm, this club is for ages eleven upwards and concentrates on acting and dramatic skills and enters competitions all over the country. Tuesdays (7pm to 9pm) sees the Act 1 club meeting for singing, acting and dance activities and Thursday nights from 7:30pm have the show-focused Act 2 club rehearsing for all their latest productions and cabarets. Encore is a new development for anyone over the age of 21. Encore will be part of BYP but completely self financing. BYP is funded by Bradford District Council, the Co-operative Foundation and Young Lives Bradford. All clubs are always on the look-out for new members to join and become a part of what is an enjoyable, welcoming atmosphere. For full details including all contacts, please see our website. Registered charity number 1102702 "Over the last year alone, BYP have staged four musicals and a pantomime plus three cabaret evenings as well as entered various competitions and showcases. And with a lot of events to come including performances for Bradford West's Year of the Young Citizen, it has never been a more exciting time to get involved in this terrific organisation!"
