DescriptionThe Bradford Writers' Circle meet the first and the third Mondays in the month. Never on a the fifth, unless by special invitation.
Bradford Writers' Circle is for all abilities of writer. We are here to encourage you to write in a pleasing environment, with other like minded writers. Whether it is poetry, prose, stories or articles you enjoy, or you are thinking about writing your memoirs, please come along and join us. You are welcome to bring some of your previously written work to read out to us. We usually have two quiet times when we write on site and get some feedback on our work. We often set a subject for homework, but this is not obligatory.
In the afternoon from 2.30pm to 4.30pm we meet in the Basement Room of the Voluntary Services Centre, 19/25, Sunbridge Road. This can be accessed by a buzzer operated system. Take three stairs to the left at the end of the corridor to use the lift to the lower ground floor (-1). Or there is disabled usage to the rear of the building on Aldermanbury, where a similar buzzer system (opening outward) allows easier access. The room is directly opposite this way in.
In the evening we meet at the Kirkgate Community Centre, from 7.00pm to 9.30pm. We use the main front door, through the iron gates and up a couple of steps. There is a buzzer on the right hand wall, which allows access to the building. If wheelchair access is required, there is another door to the left of the building on Kirkgate where there is also a buzzer to gain access to the main hall.
Membership to the circle is 10.00 for the year (includes both venues) and allows concessions on the competitions entered. The fees for each session are 2.00 per member and "2.50 per non-member at either venue.
There are usually our competitions a year, unless otherwise specified. Short Story, Children's Story, Open Poetry and Article. Details on request from Competition Secretary, c/o 74 Main Road, Denholme, Bradford, BD13 4BL
